Michael Burry

The Big Short
Founder of Scion Asset Management

Extreme contrarian deep value: hunts mispriced, panic-sold assets and obvious bubbles, and will short the overvalued.

A neurology resident who taught himself value investing and founded Scion Capital in 2000. His subprime short made $725M in 2007–08 — immortalized in The Big Short. He still runs Scion with deep-value contrarian bets.

Disclosure

Scion files a 13F, but Burry turns over fast, uses options, and runs a tiny book (often 3–5 names). The quarterly snapshot is easy to misread — the best reminder never to blindly copy anyone.
